Celebrating the Bear Life in Style

I feel a Naomi Campbell moment coming on. . .

OK, you’re on your way to the year’s biggest event (insert event of your choice – White Party, Bear Bust, IML). You’ve packed your steamer trunks. Leather Outfit – check. Drag Ensemble – Check. Cub Scout Uniform – Don’t Ask. You are ready to go. But wait – your flight has been canceled (OH NO THEY DIDN’T – Start channeling Naomi Campbell immediately).

As everyone else calls unavailable travel agencies, remember to declare Rule 240 — a nifty and little-known airline ordinance that spells out passengers’ rights in the event of delays, cancellations, missed connections, and other issues “within the control” of the airline.

Seems you’ll make the Naked Bears in Mud Annual Gala after all.

If your flight is delayed or cancelled, or if you've missed your flight connection, these policies may give you free meal vouchers, hotel accommodations, phone calls, and other amenities. You may be booked on a substitute flight -- even on another airline -- and you may be compensated or given a full refund if the flight problems persist.

It pays to have a copy of the airline’s 240 rules handy to educate those employees who don’t know — or won’t tell — about the policy.

Sometimes it’s good to be Queen.
