Jack Andrew Chapman – Nominee – Bear of the Year

by SFBrawnyBear on October 27, 2009

Jack Andrew ChapmanHey guys, my name is Jack, I’m 19 and quite single ;) . I’m an undergraduate at LaTrobe University where I study Sociology and Sexuality, Gender and Diversity Studies.

Since February 2008, I have been involved with my local Bear club “Vicbears”, to which I am currently on the committee. I was a contestant in “Mr Australasia Bear Contest 2008″, for the “Bear fantasy” section, my fantasy was me winning the title of “Mr Australasia Bear” – I lost.

Late last year I joined with Ryan Miller and David Cooke to create The Cubby House Podcast. The show is a platform in which the presenters and guests can discuss the issues relevant to the Bear/Cub community and their own experiences of life, love and the scene. The show is also a space to showcase some of the talented writers of our subculture including Wayne Hoffman and Jay Neil. It’s available for download from http://thecubbyhouse.net.au.

These days I am an outreach worker for the Victorian AIDS Council, in which I assist in offering a non-invasive and discrete way for men to discuss sexual health at saunas and sex clubs.

When I graduate from my degree, I want to stay within sexual health promotion and create resources that are honest, informative and interesting.
