Outing Riley
Riley can’t seem to come out to his 3 older brothers for fear of their reactions. He has confided in his younger sister Maggie, who threatens to out him if he doesn’t hurry and do it himself.
Husbear liked the film a lot more than I did. I thought at times it tried to hard to be cute – the “angry inch” joke got old. But overall, it was enjoyable. Also, for those of you in Chicago – some amazingly beautiful shots of your city (having lived in Lakeview in the 90’s, I had a different visual in mind that seemed to be the undersides of the L. Guess I’m more of a seedy kinda guy).
It’s not a gay Chicago movie without the Wiener Circle, which contrary to what you may think is not a gay bar – LOL.
Riley is a cute, chubby kinda guy versus the typical Queer as Folk types usually portrayed in gay film. No washboard abs here - that was refreshing. The storyline and the dialogue were realistic and heart warming at points. We could all use a sister like Maggie.
So the next time husbear threatens you with another Star Trek, The Next Generation rerun, try Outing Riley instead.
